Dear Valued Clients,
It is with a heavy heart and mixed emotions that I share this news. Due to Covid-19, I have made the decision to move and downsize Karu Salon to reduce my overhead and get my sanity back! As many of you know, we were highly anticipating a relocation of Karu in mid March and the future for us was looking very bright! Not in a million years, would I have guessed that we would be where we are today. Here’s our story…
Karu Salon, along with all salons across the country had to close our doors in late March for 10 weeks during the mandatory shut down. No one could have guessed the tumultuous road that lied before us. We can’t thank our clients enough for the donations and retail sales that kept us afloat during that very difficult time. It was a wild ride of intense ups and downs, sleepless nights and nail biting for all! After we received word that we could reopen, we tirelessly worked to reschedule hundreds of clients, gathered our PPE and prepared the salon for the new normal. We had a very successful reopening in June! We were so happy to get back to doing what we love and making our clients beautiful again! I am so proud of our team for diligently following our safety precautions and welcoming all the new safety procedures. Our clients also did an impeccable job adhering to the new guidelines. THANK YOU!!
I am happy to report that after servicing over 500 clients with a staff of 8, that not one person was infected with Covid-19.
We were cautiously optimistic but as Covid cases started to rise in Austin, our sales started to decline. After lengthy negotiations with my landlord, a massive loss in revenue and ongoing concerns for childcare, this just has become to difficult for me to manage as a single parent. Unfortunately, this pandemic has just taken it’s toll. I have spoken to so many other salon owners about how difficult this situation has been. While this is sad news to share, I am proud of what I have achieved in 10 years at Karu Salon. I have dared greatly and believe this quote to be true, from my favorite author, Brene Brown. “Vulnerability is not winning or losing, it’s having the courage to show up and be seen when we have no control of the outcome”. Not I or anyone else could have controlled this outcome.
I am an entrepreneur at heart and I am optimistic about my future. I have courage and faith that the best is yet to come! I look forward to continuing servicing many of you at my new location!
August 9th, I will be at Salon 1150 located downtown in the Seaholm District. If you wish to follow another stylist, please let us know so we can give you their contact info.
Karu Salon’s official
last day of business at 3500 Jefferson St Suite 101 will be Aug 7th.
If you have an appointment after this time, you will be contacted to be rescheduled. You can still book with me directly thru
Thank you for the last incredible 10 years!! We have enjoyed servicing the community and we are all embracing this new journey! This is not a good bye but a to be continued…
